A Woman of Power and Purpose

Kathleen Majors | February 12 2014

There were few people left in the villages of Israel-until Deborah arose as a Mother for Israel.  Judges 5:7

Webster defines mother as “a woman in authority; specifically: the superior of a religious community of women”.  Well, Deborah was definitely a woman in authority.  She was the only female Judge called by God.  Deborah’s story is one of a woman of power.  She did not ask for nor seek power.  She was a woman of purpose who humbled herself before God, so that He could use her in a powerful way.  We are women of purpose, and like Deborah, need to position ourselves before God so He can demonstrate His power through us.

Deborah’s challenge to us is to:

1)    Be available.

2)    Put all our effort into what we can do, not what we can’t do.

3)    Let God be in control.
